Our Classes

Groundwork: Crawling to 18 months

When a child starts to crawl around and explore their environment, it’s the perfect time to begin Groundwork! This is the youngest of the APEX for Kids' classes.  Parents will play an active role in this class, modeling movements and behaviors for their child to follow.  Children will crawl, climb, and navigate obstacle courses in an effort to improve body control and awareness.  Balls, slides, swings and tunnels will also be a part of the active play experience.

Mobility: Ages 19 months to 2.5 years

Our mobility class offers group activities tailored to the physical, mental, and emotional developmental level of each group.  This parental participation class provides your child with a gentle introduction to being part of a group, taking turns, and following directions.  Games and activities will challenge children to improve body control and balance while celebrating successes along the way.  Introductions are made to object control skills such as throwing, catching, hitting and kicking balls. Practicing locomotor skills such as running, jumping, climbing and swinging will keep children active and engaged.

Development: Ages 2.5 - 3.5 years old

Coordination of skills to perform more dynamic movements will be the perfect challenge for this age group. The goal is to challenge the children and provide each child with the opportunity to accomplish new goals and succeed.  Working on listening to instructions, waiting for a turn, and cheering on friends will be beneficial experience for children transitioning into preschool environments. Parents will still be active participants, gradually stepping back and giving their child the opportunity to act independently.

Body Awareness: Ages 3.5 - 5 years

This class challenges children to develop and refine their gross motor skills and participate independently in the group.  The activities and games will be tailored to the developmental levels including physically, mentally, and emotionally, of each class.  The goal is to challenge the children and provide each child with the opportunity to accomplish new goals and succeed.  Parents will be expected to provide support for their child as they gain confidence participating independently in a group setting.

Skill Building: Ages 5-7 years

Skill Building classes introduce more complex movements such as combining skills to perform dynamic athletic movements.  This class will challenge children to improve concentration and build endurance.  Activities and games will add rhythm and timing to movements in an effort to create fluidity.  Children will be challenged to perform skills and movements with a partner, or in a group, improving communication, cooperation and team work.  This non-competitive team environment will ask children to help and encourage their peers to do their best.

Open Gym: Active crawlers to 7 years

Open gym is a staff-supervised semi-structured play. Parent participation is required for our younger groups Crawling - 3 yrs. old. While parent supervision when appropriate is required for our older groups 4 - 7 yrs. old.

Attendance will be limited to 12 kids per session to limit the closeness with others in the facility. Everyone in attendance must comply with the new APEX safety policies, or will be asked to leave.

Staff will be on hand to lead and supervise age-appropriate activities for all children present.  Open Gym sessions will be 1 hour.
